      Hi Barry,

      Thanks for your question.

      I was mostly climbing, moutaineering and skiing, but we did carry out some surveys for various institutes:

      we examined the glacier for Queens University Belfast to see how far the ice has retreated. We also did some mapping, because maps do not exist of the area we went to. We did some studies on the wildlife and plants and had to carry round little laminated sheets with pictures of things we had to look out for on! We then wrote up and passed the information back to the universities that has asked us to do it for them.

      Id like to go back in the future and do some more studies on human responses to living in such isolation and at such a cold temperature- some wierd things happened to our bodies and id like to understand more about why!

      Doing field rearch is really great fun, especially in such a cool place! Do you fancy it yourself?
