• Question: hows long does it roughly take to wait for the 'break through' of your results?

      Hi imogen,
      people often think this is random, but I don’t.
      Of course, luck comes to those with the prepared mind, but the likelihood of getting a breakthrough is related to how much money is going into your research and also what the technology is like when you’re doing your experiments… because you need pretty advanced kits now to make any breakthrough.. kind of like, without the 3D animation technology, you couldn’t make Avatar..
      So if you look at the timeline of scientific discoveries, you’ll find that there’s only a handful of breakthroughs every 100 years until the 18th century, when there were just over 10. Then in 19th C, there were around 20. Then 20th C, there were over 30. So hopefully, in the 21st C, we continue that trend!!
